Two-time Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro tackle Tunch Ilkin is an executive partner to Leadership League and a popular Steelers television and radio analyst. His insights into organizational leadership, motivation and success using the proven “Steelers Way” make him a highly sought speaker for Leadership League events such as Forged in Steel.
Tunch played offensive tackle for the Steelers for 12 years, from 1980 to 1992, earning two Pro Bowl appearance honors. He finished his career with the Green Bay Packers in 1993. Reflecting his abilities as a leader, he served as Vice-President of the NFL Players Association from 1989 to 1994.
After his retirement from the NFL, Tunch began appearing as a commentator and sports reporter on sports broadcasts in Pittsburgh. His well-known segment, Lunch with Tunch, featured interviews with Steelers players and coaches.
In 1998, Tunch joined the official Steelers broadcasting team of Myron Cope and Bill Hillgrove as an analyst. After Cope's retirement following the 2004 season, Ilkin took on Cope’s former color-commentary duties.
Tunch works as an analyst on the Pittsburgh affiliate of Fox Sports Net and has written for NFLHS.com, a website for football fans.
Tunch recently lost his wife, Sharon, to a long battle with breast cancer. He has three grown children: Tanner, Natalie, and Clay. They reside in Upper St. Clair, a suburb of Pittsburgh. A convert from Islam to Christianity, Tunch is the Director of Men's Ministries for South Hills Bible Chapel.
